Hyōka

Hyōka  is a Japanese mystery novel by Honobu Yonezawa. It is the first volume of the Classic Literature Club  series. Four additional volumes have been published between 2002 and 2010. A manga adaptation drawn by Task Ohna began serialization in the March 2012 issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Shōnen Ace. A 22-episode anime adaptation produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto aired from April 22 to September 16, 2012.

Hyōka means ice cream in Japanese but to me it means much more than that its the name of a good Japanese animation series that i totally like watching here's the synopsis:

Oreki Houtarou is a minimalistic high school boy that doesn't do anything without having no choice but to do it. One day, he joins the Classic Literature Club at his elder sister's request.

There he meets Chitanda Eru, Fukube Satoshi, and Ibara Mayaka. Chitanda is a calm beautiful girl but she turns into an embodiment of curiosity once she says, "I'm interested in it (Watashi, Kininarimasu)". Fukube is a smiling boy with a fantastic memory who calls himself a database. Ibara is a short girl and is strict with others and herself. She loves Fukube, but he always dodges her approaches.

They begin to investigate a case that occurred 45 years ago. Hints of the mystery are buried in an old collection of works of the former members of Classics Club. The collection is titled "Hyouka."

"I don't do anything I don't have to. What I have to do, I do quickly."

For most people, the short years spent in high school are often the turning point and highlight of their lives; a time filled with introspection and change, where some dreams end and others are born to take their place. On the other hand, there are some who reject this notion and choose to spend their days as uneventfully and routinely as possible, never straying too far from their comfort zone and established lifestyle. After all, why waste the energy on trivial matters?

Oreki Houtarou is one of these individuals, and my favourite character of the

Quote of the day

"The Fault In Our Stars"

In the world of book adaptations, there are few examples of movies that can truly be compare to their fictional counterparts. Books are of course more of a time commitment, however they definitely offer more detail and they often give the readers the chance to view the world from a character or the plot's perspectives. There’s something about reading a book that is extremely intimate whereas a movie screening is not.

The Fault in our Stars is an obviously an intimate read, but director Josh Boone does a wonderful job of bringing author John Green's best selling novel to the screen. Instead of exploiting the book and make major changes, Boone recognized that Green is a witty writer. So, he simply cut out he fat from the novel, removed some of the minor details, characterizations and back stories that would have been heavy for the theatrical audience catching the story for the first time. While those who have pored over the pages of Green’s book since its release in 2012 might miss a few scenes, lines and sequences, Green’s work is evident and mostly intact on the screen.

Plans if the day

Hello

My name is Selvi i also go by the nickname of Sel but some wicked friends of mine also call me selfie. I'm a first year at the Open University of Mauritius and is going for a Ba (hons) in Graphic Design Multimedia and Hypermedia.

I'm an avid reader of both books and manga and also have to admit that I watch a lot of anime (to my parents great displeasure). I guess the best way to describe me would be of someone withheld by golden chains in a golden cage that my parents have created for me.
I finally decided to seriously start writing a book; I've written quite a lot of fan fictions during my high school days (even though i never had the courage of posting them). I'm also going to suggest books (for notice I'm a big paranormal romance fan), manga, anime and even song that catch my attention. You are most welcome to read them and to comment. I'm a dreamer but still that doesn't mean I'm not crazy in my own way.

This blog is going to be my sweet escape from reality; somewhere I can finally be me.
